I generally agree with all of this of course, but I think some people are concerned when pressures from first world capitalism keep the third world locked in non-capitalism.

One can understand why some non-economists would attribute that to capitalism. One can also understand why economists wouldn't appreciate the attribution. But in a lot of cases I think that's a big part of the frustration.
